Learning & Participation  

Bones Apart has travelled extensively throughout Europe, the United States and Japan giving education workshops in schools and presenting masterclasses at Universities and Music Conservatoires. They have participated in the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now! scheme, are ambassadors for pBone and have been involved in many outreach projects in hospitals and the wider community. 

Schools Workshops

Find out all about the trombone, its history and how it works! Features music spanning 600 years covering everything from Bach to jazz and film music.

For the younger age group there are rhythm and conducting games and, for the older students, we offer coaching opportunities on solo repertoire for exams.

Additionally can include a evening recital with optional performances from workshop participants.

pBone Collaboration

Learn to play a pBone!

The new plastic trombone available in lots of different colours that has revolutionised trombone playing for beginners!

Have fun creating a piece with your classmates alongside Bones Apart.

Includes conducting and clapping games and a

longest note competition! 

Masterclasses & Ensemble Coaching

Chamber music coaching for trombone, brass or wind ensembles. Focusing on the various performance skills; breathing, listening and team work as well as phrasing, musical awareness and stylistic approach. We also offer advice on audition preparation technique and orchestral coaching.

Additionally can include a recital with optional performance from masterclass participants.

Brass Band & Wind Band training

This involves sectionals and coaching on a concert programme or test piece. There is an option to include an informal band performance with an adjudication from Bones Apart offering constructive criticism. This training day or weekend typically culminates in a joint concert with the quartet.
